The Webster dictionary
defines a community as a unified body of individuals
with common interests living in a particular area.
ASUF provides a community to help individuals develop
spiritually, socially, and academically. A Christian
fraternity and sorority is a great way to build relationships
and meet individuals with the same focus. Individuals
who will hold other brothers and sisters accountable
to living up to the standards of our faith. Proverbs
27:17 states that" iron is made sharp with iron, and
one man is made sharp by a friend" (New Life Version).
In 1997, the Baptist Press released a startling statistic and concluded that seventy percent
of all college students who regularly attended church
while in high school stopped altogether within two
years of their graduation. In addition, they also
discovered that over eighty percent of college students
expressed that their experience in college helped
to weaken their faith.
These statistics alone proves
that there is a great need for spiritual communities
and accountability on college campuses.
